Who carries out my wishes in my Will?

In your Will you appoint an Executor. The Executor attends to the terms of your Will to ensure your wishes are carried out after you die. You can name more than one person to be your Executor. It is important to think carefully about who you appoint, as they need to have the knowledge and ability to deal with your Will when the time comes.

Things to consider when appointing Executors:

  • Will they out-live you?

  • Do they have sufficient time and skills to carry out what is required?

  • Will they be impartial if there is a dispute?

  • Will they have an understanding of your Estate?

  • Are they willing to undertake the legal responsibilities of being an Executor?
