Who can I appoint as my Executor?

You can choose anyone to be your Executor – your spouse, relative, friend or a professional Trustee company such as Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees. It is a good idea to speak to them first to see if they are prepared to take on the responsibilities of being an Executor. Let them know that they have been appointed as Executor after you have made your Will.
Being an Executor is a very responsible position. Sometimes a friend or family member may not be willing or able to administer your Estate in the long term. This could be due to a range of reasons such as their age, change of profession, pressures of time, relocation or in the instance of a family member family disharmony and disputes.
