Won’t everything automatically go to my partner if I die?

Fifty percent of Tasmanians don’t make a Will. Why? Many people believe that on their death, everything will go automatically to their partner.
But under Tasmanian law, this is not necessarily so.
Not making a Will can sometimes result in families not being adequately provided for, futures uncertain and even homes having to be sold.
Without the clear instructions that are recorded in a Will, your intentions maybe ignored. So there are practical reason for making a Will. But even more importantly, there’s peace of mind for you and for those close to you.
